Samsung is kicking off 2025 with its first big Unpacked event of the year, and it’s shaping up to be an exciting one. The much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S25 Series is set to launch in the third week of January, with at least three models in the lineup: the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The Ultra model is expected to steal the spotlight as the flagship, packed with significant upgrades across key areas like camera performance, design, and overall features. Here’s a closer look at what the Galaxy S25 Ultra might bring to the table.

1. Powerful Chipset
The Galaxy S25 Ultra is set to see a major upgrade with the inclusion of the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which is the flagship processor for 2025. This powerful chipset promises to boost performance and efficiency, although it might also come with a higher price tag. As a high-end processor, it’s especially aimed at gamers and users who demand top-tier performance. According to tipster Ice Universe, all models in the Galaxy S25 series will feature this Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Furthermore, both the Galaxy S25 and S25+ are expected to come with at least 12GB of RAM, signaling the end of the 8GB RAM variants in this new lineup.

2. Refreshed Design
The Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to sport a sleek new design with curved edges, marking a shift away from the sharp corners seen in previous models. This fresh look is likely to resemble the Galaxy S20 Ultra and Galaxy S21 Ultra, bringing a more comfortable feel to the device, especially during extended use. The change aims to address the discomfort users experienced with the sharp edges in earlier generations. On the back, rumors suggest a five-camera setup, drawing design inspiration from the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which should add a unique touch to the device’s overall look.

3. Camera Setup
The camera setup on the Galaxy S25 Ultra may not see a major jump in megapixel count, but it will still offer impressive image quality, thanks to the inclusion of the Samsung ISOCELL 200MP sensor. This will ensure crisp photos and better performance in low-light situations. Along with that, the device will feature 12MP and 50MP telephoto sensors, both supporting 3x zoom. For selfies, users can expect a 12MP Samsung ISOCELL S5K3LU sensor on the front, making for sharp and vibrant shots.

4. Brighter Display
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to come with a stunning 6.8-inch display, offering a high resolution of 3120×1440 pixels. One of the standout features will be the screen’s peak brightness, which is rumored to reach an impressive 3000 nits, making it one of the brightest displays on the market. The bezels are also expected to be thinner, giving the phone a sleeker, more premium look.

5. One UI 7 & Galaxy AI
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Series will debut with One UI 7, built on Android 15, bringing a host of exciting new features. This version will introduce advanced Galaxy AI functionalities that will significantly improve the user experience. The AI capabilities will be enhanced, and the addition of fresh features will make interactions more intuitive. One UI 7 will include a Now Bar for real-time notifications on the lock screen, a revamped camera app interface, updated app icons, and better widgets. Some of the expected new AI features include call transcription during recordings, personalized notifications, and other useful enhancements.

6. Integration of Bixby
A major upgrade for the Galaxy S25 Series is the integration of large language models (LLM) into Samsung’s Bixby voice assistant. Set to roll out globally in January 2025, this update will significantly improve Bixby’s conversational abilities, bringing it closer to competing with Google’s Assistant Gemini. The addition of LLM will enable more natural, intuitive interactions, making Bixby smarter and more efficient for everyday use.

7. Battery & Charging
The Galaxy S25 Ultra will likely feature a 5000mAh battery, similar to last year’s model, but with an improvement in charging speed. This upgrade is expected to reduce charging times, making it more convenient for users to power up their device quickly.
