Pahalgam Terror Attack: PM Modi Blames Terrorists, Promises Strong Respons

In the 121st episode of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, assuring the victims’ families that justice would be delivered. The brutal assault on April 22 claimed the lives of 26 tourists, including one from Nepal, and left more than 36 injured.

Speaking to the nation, PM Modi expressed heartfelt sorrow, stating, “The terror attack in Pahalgam has deeply wounded every citizen of India. Our hearts go out to the grieving families.” He highlighted the overwhelming international support following the tragedy, mentioning, “Global leaders have reached out through calls, letters, and messages to condemn this brutal act. Today, the entire world stands firmly with the 1.4 billion people of India in our fight against terrorism.”

Reaffirming his commitment to justice, Modi declared that the culprits would face the “severest punishment.” He further praised the resilience and unity of the Indian people, adding, “In our battle against terrorism, the strength and solidarity of 140 crore Indians is our greatest weapon.”

PM Modi also pointed out that the attack comes at a time when Kashmir was witnessing a wave of peace and development. “Just as Kashmir was moving towards peace and prosperity, the enemies of India and Jammu & Kashmir tried to derail the progress,” he said.

In a strong retaliatory move, the Indian government announced the cancellation of all visas issued to Pakistani nationals, effective April 27, 2025, except for diplomatic, official, and long-term visas. Medical visas will remain valid only until April 29, as per a statement from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

“The Government of India has cancelled all existing visas granted to Pakistani citizens, with immediate effect, excluding long-term, diplomatic, and official categories. Medical visas will expire on April 29,” the ministry confirmed.

Additionally, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan convened a video meeting with all state chief secretaries, directing them to implement necessary measures. This step marks a major policy shift aimed at tightening border security and monitoring foreign nationals in the wake of the Pahalgam tragedy.
